About CultureCapital.com

Introduced in June, 2008, CultureCapital.com connects people to the heart of the thriving arts and culture community in the Greater Washington, DC region including the District of Columbia; Montgomery, Prince George's, Arlington and Fairfax Counties; and the City of Alexandria.

This virtual arts marketplace provides comprehensive information and reliable ticket-purchase options for shows, performances, classes and exhibitions offered by more than 300 regional arts organizations and cultural institutions, making it the region's richest and most diverse collection of arts and culture activities. CultureCapital.com strives to be inclusive and includes big names and small groups alike, giving users access to all the hot hits and hidden jewels the DC region has to offer.

CultureCapital.com is produced by the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustaining and increasing appreciation, support and resources for arts and culture throughout the region.

The site is supported by the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation, the Marpat Foundation Inc., National Endowment for the Arts, Altria and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

Participating in CultureCapital

CultureCapital, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington's online arts and culture calendar, is a member benefit that assists you with promoting your programming to the public.

SERVICE PROVIDED

Participants submit their performances, exhibitions, classes, lectures, etc. into CultureCapital. Each "event" listing includes the date/range of dates, venue, presenter, description, cost, a link to the presenter's box office and a photo. The system automatically assigns venue information, directions (including driving and METRO information) and a link to the organization's website. Participants also choose categories (e.g. theatre, dance, classes) and subcategories (e.g. dance classes, art classes). Visitors can then search for an arts and culture activity by title, presenter, venue, region, date/range of dates and/or artistic discipline.

To augment the CultureCapital website and provide more visibility to participants, the CultureCapital INSIDER e-blast is sent to an opt-in subscriber list each Tuesday. The INSIDER focuses on the week ahead in the categories of Openings, Last Chance, Limited Engagement, One-Nite-Only, Free and On a Budget. Events listed in the INSIDER are extracted from the CultureCapital site. A minimum of three events each week are featured as Hot Hits & Hidden Jewels with complete descriptions and a photo.

CultureCapital has also partnered with The Washington Blade, providing editorial for their weekly Arts & Culture Guide appearing in print each Friday and serving as their online arts & culture calendar.

ELIGIBILITY

Use of CultureCapital is limited to
